Six Physician Assistant students of Saint Louis University had the opportunity to present at the Missouri Academy of Physician Assistants Primary Care Update Conference in Branson, Mo. on July 20. The students presented a number of medical topics and/or the results of their evidence-based Master's research project in the form of a professionally designed poster. The poster reception was help in conjunction with physician assistant students from Missouri State University who had four students present posters.

  • Derrick Crass presented on the use of "Viscosupplementation for Hip Osteoarthritis"
  • Brandon Williams presented two posters, "Advances in Parkinson's Treatment" and "Advances in Total Knee Arthroplasty Component Selection."
  • Lizzy Lee presented "mega-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid Supplementation and its Effect on Reducing Symptoms of Perinatal Depression."
  • Miranda Boeckman and Beth Ewig together presented on "Knocking Some Sense into Concussions."
  • Alissa Sprague and Nikki Simms together presented on "The Benefits of Pulmonary Rehabilitation: Why Should We Refer?"

In addition to the student presentations, two Physician Assistant Education faculty members presented CME category I topics:

  • Caroline Chang, M.M.S., P.A.-C, presented on "Crohn's Disease"
  • Christine Werner, Ph.D., P.A.-C, R.D., presented on "Nutrition Advising for in Primary Care."
