Doisy College Welcomes Dr. Mardell Wilson as Dean
With the new school year beginning Doisy is pleased to give Mardell Wilson, Ed.D., a warm welcome as she begins her role as the new Dean at the Edward and Margaret Doisy College of Health Sciences.
Dr. Wilson comes to Saint Louis University from Illinois State University, where she previously served as the associate vice president for Academic Fiscal Management. She had been at Illinois State University for 17 years, having held a number of faculty and administrative positions. Wilson held the rank of professor of food, nutrition and dietetics in the Department of Family and Consumer Science at Illinois State University.
Dr. Wilson received her doctorate from Illinois State University and her master of science from Eastern Illinois University. Her professional leadership roles include service on the Council for Administrators of Family and Consumer Science, the Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Steering Committee, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Central Illinois Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Dr. Wilson's husband, Dave Wilson, is a Field Manager for Pekin Insurance and services over 100 agents in Central and West- Central Illinois. The Wilson's will celebrate 23 years of marriage in October and have two sons, Jonah and Elliott. The boys are engaged in many athletic and musical activities such as piano, basketball, tennis, golf and cross country. Outside of her academic and leadership duties, Dr. Wilson explains while there is little free time she enjoys baking, running, biking and playing both golf and the piano.
