Educational Leadership | Master of Arts Degree

SLU's Educational Leadership program has a regional and national reputation. The faculty is committed to the concept of program quality, and quality was the driver in the development of the design for the degree. The foundation of the design is grounded in the literature on educational leadership preparation. Additionally, students' work meets the Carnegie Standards for doctoral education. SLU's Educational Leadership program is accredited by NCAT.

Required Additional Application Materials for International Students

English Proficiency scores required for all international students; regardless if an applicant has previously attended an U.S. institution. Applicant Criteria

  • Application reviewed by committee
  • An above-average GPA
  • A review of English proficiency scores (for international applicants)
  • SLU Writing Exam (SLUWE) if admitted (for international applicants)

Admission Statistics

  • The program draws from a large pool of qualified applicants

Rankings/Honors: All programs are nationally accredited. Nearly 20 percent of all of Missouri's superintendents are alumni of the Graduate School at Saint Louis University.

Credit Hours/Coursework: A minimum of 32 hours beyond the bachelor's degree. Successful completion of a one-hour oral examination at the conclusion of the student's coursework. A five-page paper detailing the student's philosophy of education must be submitted prior to the oral examination. In addition to the above requirements, the student must adhere to all university regulations stipulated in the General Bulletin.

Program Highlights: Teachers already participating in the 1818 Advanced College Credit Program can receive tuition remission. Typically, the investment return for a student is realized after two promotions.
