Layla Hajjafar, M.D., M.Sc., has joined the faculty of Saint Louis University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of internal medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Dr. Hajjafar earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine, followed by an internal medicine residency, a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship and a liver transplant fellowship, all at Case Western Reserve University. She joins SLUCare from the Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit.

Board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology, and transplant hepatology, Dr. Hajjafar is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease and the American Gastroenterological Association.

Dr. Hajjafar is an attending physician at Saint Louis University Hospital, and has clinical expertise in transplant hepatology, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis. In addition to patient care and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Hajjafar has research interests in transplant hepatology and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Dr. Hajjafar sees patients at the SLUCare Doctors Office Building, 3660 Vista Ave., and Saint Louis University Hospital, 3635 Vista Ave. at Grand Blvd. Appointments can be made by calling (314) 577-6000 or (866) 977-4440.
