Melanie McKean, D.O., Ph.D., has joined the faculty of Saint Louis University School of Medicine as an instructor of psychiatry in the Department of Neurology & Psychiatry. Dr. McKean completed her doctoral work at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences and earned her medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by an internal medicine-psychiatry combined residency at Rush University Medical Center. She joins SLUCare from her residency.
Dr. McKean is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Psychiatric Association and the American Osteopathic Association. An attending physician at Saint Louis University Hospital, Dr. McKean has clinical expertise in women's mental health and women's primary care, with a focus on preventative medicine and the reproductive years.
In addition to patient care and teaching responsibilities, Dr. McKean has research interests in women's health and psychiatry, including postpartum depression, sexual disorders and reproductive dysfunction. In her spare time, Dr. McKean enjoys photography and spending time with her family.
