Frequently Asked Faculty Questions "How will this change affect me?" While using Gateway will be as easy as using a web page, there may be a period of adjustment for some employees as they learn how to use the exciting new tools. Training opportunities will be available in many different forms, from online tutorials, to CDs, out to a very robust help feature on the front page. Why make a change? Do I need to learn something new? SLU is making this change for the good of the entire University community. For the student who wants quick access to grades. For the researcher who is writing a grant proposal. For the faculty member who is preparing class materials. And for the staff member who is developing a presentation. "How will I post grades?" Once you log into gateway, all WebFac and eventually WebCT functions will be available. There will be a tab called "My Courses" all of the classes you are teaching that semester will be listed. Instructions for posting grades will be located here. "How will I get class lists?" They will be complied by the gateway system and will be automatically available. "Can I still use Web CT?" Yes. Web CT will become a part of gateway. How will this affect my job? You may have to learn some new things for a while, but the benefits of this new system will make doing your job MUCH more efficient and effective. "How do I get reports?" Gateway will allow you to access a reporting feature which provides tools for creating your own reports. |
