English as a Second Language
Saint Louis University no longer offers full-time English-as-a second language (ESL) instruction. Some ESL courses remain available, however, for successful international applicants with basic, English-language skills. If an international is considering making application to The Graduate School, his/her TOEFL score must be at least 550 (pencil-and-paper testing) or 213 (computer-based testing) for the University to be able to consider the application. (Internationals with almost no English-language competency should enroll in basic ESL programs elsewhere, then inquire here again at a later date when some competency has been achieved.)
