Brendan J. McGuire
Ph.D., History
Brendan McGuire is a fourth-year Presidential Fellow at
Saint Louis University, and is currently completing the
requirements for his doctoral degree in Medieval History.
He received his undergraduate degree in History and Classics
from Christendom College in 2003, graduating as the school's
valedictorian, and after returning to his native New York to
work for a year.
He selected Saint Louis University's History Department for his graduate education, due to the high quality and reputation of its senior faculty. His primary research interests are in the history of the crusades generally, and more specifically in the religious landscape created by the Fourth Crusade's conquest of Constantinople in 1204. This year, he plans to present several scholarly papers on the relationship between the Latin and Greek churches in the period of the early Latin Empire, in the expectation that these will form the foundation of his doctoral dissertation, and of subsequent research and publications. He also hopes to secure a teaching position sometime in the near future.
