Emily McTate
Ph.D. Clinical Psychology

I am a first-year graduate student working towards my Ph.D. in the Clinical Psychology program. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Creighton University. I had not previously had experiences in Jesuit education but after four years at Creighton I realized the important role the Jesuit philosophy played in my everyday interactions with professors and peers. I value the ‘whole person’ approach to learning and the practice of being ‘men and women for others’. This Jesuit sprit drew me to St. Louis University. The interest and warmth conveyed by the faculty, inviting atmosphere, and unlimited opportunities for learning confirmed that St. Louis University was where I wanted to continue my education.

My goal is to do both research and clinical interventions with children in at risk situations. My hope is to increase research-based knowledge, and to work as a clinician to improve the lives of children and their families. I am eager for the challenges of the next several years and look forward to a variety of learning experiences and to developing relationships with faculty and peers.
