George Faithful
Ph.D. Historical Theology
Born in Anchorage, Alaska, I spent my formative years in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest before pursuing a B.A. in German and religion at Wake Forest University, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After a time of deep questioning, I pursued an M.Div. at Covenant Theological Seminary, with a concentration in Christianity and contemporary culture.
The program in historical theology at Saint Louis University appealed to me because theology is incoherent apart from its historical and cultural contexts. While most universities have relegated the study of the knowledge of God to the study of human behavior toward the divine, Saint Louis University remains one of a handful of schools to teach theology as it has unfolded throughout history. Because it is a diverse and cooperative community of scholars, SLU is one of the only places where I can become a responsible historian and theologian without side-lining my own religious beliefs.
