Michael J. Cahill
Ph.D., Applied-Experimental Psychology
"I am currently entering my third year of the Ph.D program in social psychology. My major research interests are self-regulation (i.e. restraining impulsive behavior), self-threats (e.g., insults, rejection, and ostracism), and aggression. This year I plan to continue working with Dr. Donna Eisenstadt on a program of research designed to examine the internal process by which threats to one’s public image encourage aggressive responding.
I hope to obtain my doctorate in social psychology in the next two years and become a professor at a university that allows me to teach several classes while also continuing the line of research on which I am currently working.
Before entering graduate school, I graduated from SLU in 2004 with a B.A. in psychology. I chose to remain at SLU because I knew from experience that SLU’s psychology faculty were extremely intelligent, friendly, and helpful, and my research interests mirrored those of Dr. Eisenstadt."
