FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE: Fellowship applications are Now Closed
The Saint Louis University Dissertation Fellowship seeks to encourage a new generation of scholars to undertake innovative and extensive research. Dissertation Fellowships are competitively awarded to Saint Louis University Ph.D. candidates whose work, during their time at Saint Louis University, demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and whose dissertation will significantly extend the body of knowledge within their discipline. Students interested in being nominated should contact their department or Ph.D. Mentor.
About the Award
Each eleven-month fellowship award carries a monthly stipend, 12 hours of tuition scholarship and health insurance. Summer attendance is mandatory. Recipients of the award are expected to enroll each summer beginning with the first year of their fellowship. The award is available for up to two years, depending upon the scope and contribution of the project. Requests for two years of funding must be made with the initial application and should include a well-developed timeline and rationale. No other fellowship, traineeship, assistantship, or similar appointment may be held concurrently.
Eligibility for Award
Applicants for the awards must have signed candidacy papers filed with the Doctoral Candidacy Advisor before the application deadline. Students receiving this award may not exceed the maximum number of five years for funding in a Doctoral program, unless the program allows a sixth year, or in the case of a student pursuing the Master's and Doctoral degree in the same major field, for no more than five years total as stated in the Graduate Education Catalog. Students must be nominated by the department. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and a proposed dissertation that will significantly extend the body of knowledge within their discipline. Preference will be given to those applicants who have completed their prospectus the prior Spring, Summer or Fall.
