Saint Louis University's undergraduate degree in Greek and Latin languages and literature emphasizes the study of ancient texts in their original languages. It is often combined with another major, usually art history, biology, English, philosophy or theology.
If you choose to major in Greek and Latin language and literature at SLU, you'll be exposed to a vast range of significant personalities, influential writing and wisdom literature, within a broader liberal arts education. Students studying classical languages at SLU enjoy small classes and personalized attention. Your program will be flexible, with many types of tutorials or independent study.

What You'll Learn in SLU's Greek and Latin Languages and Literature Degree Program
All students of Greek and Latin languages and literature - whether majoring or minoring - take Reading Latin, Reading Greek and an intermediate course in either Greek or Latin. Greek and Latin languages and literature majors then go on to take six additional credit hours in each language, as well as other prerequisites and electives.
In addition to the experience you gain if you study abroad, you'll also have access to Saint Louis University's Vatican Film Library
and the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies
on campus, as well as SLU's Language Resource Center.
