RHIA stands for Registered Health Information Administrator.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management are eligible to sit for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) national credentialing examination to become a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
Registered Health Information Administrators are recognized experts in managing patient health information, administering computer information systems, collecting and analyzing data, and using classification systems and medical terminologies for reimbursement and research. RHIAs possess comprehensive knowledge of medical, administrative, ethical and legal requirements and standards related to health care delivery and the privacy of protected patient information.
