Teresa Neal has 25 years of experience in the field of health informatics and information management. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in medical record administration and a master's degree in health administration - both from Saint Louis University. Specializing in health information management, she is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Teresa is committed to finding new ways to educate students for the future of health information management and helping them find their niche in the health informatics and information management profession. She was awarded the 2013 Outstanding Health Information Management Educator by the Missouri Health Information Management Association.
Prior to joining the Saint Louis University Health Informatics and Information Management faculty full-time, Teresa taught as an adjunct professor within the department for nine years. In addition, she taught online courses for Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI and served as an associate instructor at Maryville University in St. Louis. Teresa worked in the health care industry for 20 years prior to joining SLU full-time as a faculty member. She served as a manager at Ernst & Young, LLP in the Healthcare Information Technology Consulting Practice. She also served at the corporate health system level at Sisters of Mercy Health System as an Associate Director of Clinical Information Systems, a Project Manager and Senior Project Portfolio Analyst. She started her professional career at Barnes Jewish Christian Health System in St. Louis.
