What if I am studying abroad during spring 2013. Can I still be considered for a position for the 2013-2014 academic year?
Yes. Students studying abroad in the spring need to apply by the November 9, 2012 application deadline. Students will be interviewed before going abroad and will be notified if they have been hired in February 2013 with all other applicants.
What if I am studying abroad during fall 2013. Can I still be considered for a position?
Students studying abroad in the fall may be considered for a Mid Year Hire position for Spring 2013. However, applicants are required to make a full year commitment to the RA position. If you are studying abroad in the fall 2013 semester, you should wait to apply for a Spring 2014 position next fall.
When will I be contacted regarding the individual interview and group process interview?
All applicants will be contacted regarding the individual interview and group process interview once the application has closed.
What if I cannot attend the individual interview or group process interview?
The interview process contains two separate interview components and both are mandatory. In the event you cannot attend either the individual interview or the group process interview for an unforseen emergency or academic conflict, please contact Brad Romig as soon as possible. A make up day may be available for you. However, please note that failure to complete both the individual interview and the group process interview will prevent you from being considered for the RA position at this time.
If I apply for a Mid Year position and am not hired, will I still be considered for the 2013-2014 academic year position?
Yes. Unfortunately, we have a large number of applicants apply each year for a Mid Year Hire position with very few openings. If you are not hired as a Mid Year Resident Advisor, your application materials will be carried over and you will be considered for a 2013-2014 academic year position. You will not have to re-interview again in the spring.
What if I apply and then change my mind and decide I am no longer interested in being considered for a position?
Applicants who decide to withdraw from the process at any time are strongly encouraged to contact Brad Romig to remove themselves from the process.
What should I expect during the Individual Interview?
Individual interviews will last approximately 30 minutes. Please dress in business casual attire and show up at least 10 minutes prior to your interview time. You will be interviewed by 1 professional staff member and 2-3 current student staff members. The individual interview provides us an opportunity to get to know you better, discuss your interest in the position, skill set, and find out your interest in specific buildings or learning communities.
What should I expect during Group Process?
During Group Process, you will participate in a variety of activities with all other applicants in small groups. You will be evaluated by several professional staff and current student staff members. Group Process traditionally runs from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM so you will need to be available for the entire evening. Dress is business casual.
When does the RA position start?
Students selected for a Mid Year position will be required to be back on campus prior to the start of the spring 2013 semester for training. That date is tentatively set for Monday, January 7, 2012. Students selected for a 2013-2014 academic year position will be required to attend an orientation event in April and be available to be back on campus for training in early August.
