The Health Sciences Learning Community offers students from the Medical Center Campus the opportunity to study with peers, interact with faculty, and participate in activities geared toward their pre-professional interests.

The Health Sciences Learning Community offers students exploring majors in one of the programs in the Doisy College of Health Sciences or the School of Nursing opportunities to live together and to interact with faculty and participate in activities geared toward their pre-professional interests.

Examples of Community Experiences and Service Involvement:

  • Panel discussions with pre-professional health students and faculty
  • CPR Class
  • First Aid Class
  • Trip to view a dissection at Tour of the Body
  • Med Campus Student Success Open House
  • Make a Difference Day
  • Volunteer with Hustle for your Health

Guided Study Groups:

The Health Sciences LC has guided study groups for first year students. While all learning communities and FIGs are encouraged to build study groups, these guided study groups have the built in support of the Department of Academic Support's tutoring and Supplemental Instruction services.

Health Sciences Class Opportunities

Saint Louis University is very well known for preparing students for careers in the medical field. The Health Sciences Learning Community consists of four groups of classes that are specifically designed for SLU's health related majors. Not only will you take courses and live with other majors in the School of Nursing and Doisy College of Health Sciences, but you'll also have opportunities explore the health field with the help of faculty and staff across campus. You may even be able to score a shadowing experience at SLU Hospital!

*For these FIGs, a minimum verbal ACT score of 25 or verbal SAT score of 550 for ENGL 190 is required. Math ACT score of 24 or higher or Math SAT 560 is required for CHEM 163 and CHEM 165.
