Employee recognition aligns with the University's strategic directions and Ignatian values. In caring for the whole person (cura personalis), we value individuals and embrace their gifts and talents and their contributions to SLU and the community. Employee recognition comes in many forms from more formal programs to informal activities. We encourage managers and peers to engage in showing appreciation by using our formal and informal resources and programs.

The SLU Stars award is a peer-to-peer recognition award for SLU faculty and staff. The award recognizes those in the SLU community who consistently extend themselves in special ways as part of their daily work at the University and/or their local community.

SLU Sparks is an immediate, outlet for peer-to-peer recognition. The inspiration for the name comes from the Jesuit phrase "Go forth and set the world on fire". SLU faculty and staff are encouraged to recognize the people who light a spark in their lives through their actions.
