International Student Orientation is your opportunity to meet other international students and find out more about Saint Louis University.
You’ll learn about the requirements for maintaining your visa, and take the SLU Writing Examination. We’ll help you register for classes, sign up for a cell phone and open a bank account.
You'll also register with the Office of International Services so we can assist you
during your stay.
Every international student should plan to attend SLU’s international orientation, even if you’ve studied in the United States before. Every school has different policies and resources, and it is important to know what is expected of you at SLU.
The SLU Writing Examination is a writing skills assessment that will help determine your class schedule.
Most new international students, including some graduate students, are required to
complete this writing examination during orientation. Exchange students, students
transferring from SLU-Madrid, students from English-speaking countries, and students
who had college-level English at a U.S. college are not required to take the exam.
To prepare for the exam, watch our review video on YouTube.
All international students in the INTO SLU program must take the Oxford Online Placement Test (OOPT). The results of this test will determine your classes.
For international students beginning their studies in August, airport pickup days will be Friday and Saturday, Aug.17 and 18. International Student Orientation will be Sunday through Friday, Aug. 19-24. View the complete orientation schedule.
