Dr. Borgmeyer has been named the new Director of the Center for International Studies since 2012. "It's really exciting because International Studies is one of the most dynamic and popular majors on campus. The students are diverse, talented, and engaged. Many of them are already becoming global citizens before they arrive on campus."
Dr. Borgmeyer has taught in numerous other places in the U.S. and abroad, including Washington University in St. Louis, Webster University, and the Russian New University in Moscow. His areas of scholarly interest include Russian Modernist art and literature of the 19th and 20th centuries. Dr. Borgmeyer has lectured, presented, and published internationally, and he also serves as the President of the Central Slavic Conference.
Current scholarly projects include co-editing a volume on cultural identity in Russia and Eastern Europe and a handbook of Russian avant-garde art.
Dr. Borgmeyer believes SLU is a great place to do International Studies, with extensive study abroad programs, many opportunities for international education, a diverse student body, and the commitment of the university to educating students for an increasingly globalized world.
