Central Authentication Service Single Sign-On Tool
To improve security and the single sign-on process, a Central Authentication Service (CAS) will be implemented as part of the upgrade. This will allow you to access multiple password-protected web systems after logging in once, improving the concept of a single sign-on portal.
You will also start to log in to other systems, such as Internet Native Banner (inb.slu.edu), using CAS. More applications will be setup to utilize CAS in the coming months. When accessing these systems, you will automatically be redirected to the CAS login screen, unless you have already authenticated to CAS during your session.

What is login.slu.edu and how did I get here?
This website (login.slu.edu) is an implementation of the open source project Central Authentication Server (CAS) from the JASIG Consortium. CAS allows multiple websites to use the implementation of a Single Sign On (SSO). The main advantage of a SSO solution is that you only have to login once. So every site that uses login.slu.edu for authentication will only ask you to login if you haven't already logged in. So when you first go to a site using CAS you will be redirected to this site to login. But don't worry you'll be taken back to the other site after you successfully login.
What SLU Websites are using login.slu.edu?
At present the following sites/services are using login.slu.edu:

Is login.slu.edu secure?
Yes. Login.slu.edu encrypts your username and password using standard SSL technology over HTTPS. All connections behind the scenes are also encrypted between login.slu.edu and other SLU websites. In fact because you only type your username and password in once, its actually more secure as only one server now has access to your credentials. In addition, other websites that would like to have a secure login, but don't need secure connectivity for all of the content can use login.slu.edu without having to deal with the overhead of a secure login site.
Why is ITS implementing this?
CAS is a standard technology that is being adopted by many different web applications and services. As SLU adopts many of these services CAS will become more and more important. In addition, Single Sign On capabilities will be a great advantage to everyone. Also, by consolidating logins through one site, ITS can more quickly switch authentication for multiple sites if the need arises.
Which username and password is login.slu.edu using?
login.slu.edu uses your SLUNet ID and password. This is the password that you use to login to many computers on campus as well as Banner, MySLU and password.slu.edu. 'Behind the Scenes' login.slu.edu uses your 'Active Directory' password from SLUAD.
How do I change my password?
If you would like to change your password, you can do so over at http://password.slu.edu. If you still are having problems after attempting to change your password there, contact the ITS Service Desk at 314-977-4000.
I can't remember my password or username!
If you can't remember your password, head on over to http://password.slu.edu. You may have set password recovery questions which will allow you to reset your password.
If you can't remember your username, look yourself up on SLU People Finder(http://www.slu.edu/peoplefinder).
