| The
process of making mosaics begins with an artist’s vision.
In collaboration with the patron, architect, and mosaicist, the
artist, in this case Barry Faulkner, develops the theme and design of
the mosaic. For a large
mural, small watercolor sketches, known as “cartoons,” undergo a
process of enlargement.
