Print resources listing companies along with brief information are available in the Reference Area.  Two directories that list both public and private companies are Ward's Business Directory of U.S. Private and Public Companies [Ref.  HG4057 .A56] and Million Dollar Directory [Ref. HC102 .D8].  To find books about specific companies, search the Saint Louis Universtiy Libraries Catalog by subject for the name of the company.  For example, Anheuser Busch, Microsoft, etc.   See also Stock & Mutual Fund Prices.

Search for articles about companies or industries from 1971 to present.  Full text and/or page images are available for about half of the articles from 1986 forward.

Search the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) manual by keyword to get a 4-digit SIC code or by 4-digit SIC code to get an industry description.
OR

This was formerly Moody's U.S. Company Data and Moody's International Company Data.  Contains historical and financial information as reported by the companies for over 10,000 U.S. public companies traded on the NYSE, AMEX and Nasdaq stock exchanges as well as historical and financial information for approximately 13,000 non-United States-based companies from over 100 countries.   Includes links to Edgar filings from 1993 to present for U.S. companies.  Annual reports in image format are also available.

SEC Filings & Forms (EDGAR)

An archive of current and past SEC electronic company filings (10K, 10Q, Proxy Statements, etc.).  Domestic, public companies were not required to file electronically until May 6, 1996.  However, electronic filing of these required reports was phased in over three years so some reports go back to 1994.  Current reports are posted no sooner than 24 hours after receipt by the SEC.
