U.S. Economic Census

Census profiles the US economy every 5 years, from the national to the local level. Reports are now available from the 1992, 1997, and 2002 economic census.

Industry Norms and Key Business Ratios

Provides 14 indicators of performance, will give guidance when developing projected balance sheet and income statements for a business plan.

JOURNAL ARTICLES/INDUSTRY INFORMATION

Use online databases. Access databases from the library website. For off campus access you will need to know your SLUnet user name and your SLUnet password

ABI/INFORM (ProQuest). 1971- .  ProQuest.  In-library and remote access.
     Indexes and abstracts more than 1,300 journals and trade publications in all areas of business and management, many with an international focus.  Full text is available for more than 600 titles.

Business & Company Resource Center.  1980- .  Gale.  In-library and remote access.
     Updated daily except Sunday.  Formerly General Business File ASAP.  Indexes approximately 1,000 business journals and trade/industry publications as well as 200,000 full-text company directory profiles and more than 50,000 full-text investment reports.  Approximately half of the journals and trade/industry publications are full text.  Also includes brief industry profiles, company histories, company financial statements, performance ratings, rankings, product and brand listings and association listings.

Business Source Premier. 1965-   EBSCOHost. In-library and remote access.
    Updated daily. Indexes and abstracts 350 of the most important scholarly business journals. In addition, it includes indexing, abstracting and full text for 1,103 peer-reviewed journals, 2,364 trade journals and business magazines, 1,217 country economic reports, 3,146 industry reports and yearbooks, and 528 market research reports.

Factiva. 1960s- (varies by publication). ProQuest. In-library and remote access.
    Updated daily. Provides business news and information from over 10,000 publications including The Wall Street Journal (including European and Asian editions), the Financial Times(1/2/1981-), and selected publications from the Economist Intelligence Unit.

IBIS World. Current. IBISWorld  In-library and remote access.
    Updated as new reports become available. This industry analysis resource provides instant access to industry and company research reports for more than 700 United States industries along with Industry Risk Rating Reports, and hundreds of Economic & Demographic Profiles.

LexisNexis Academic.  Dates Vary. LexisNexis  In-library and remote access.
    Updated continuously.  Covers news, business and legal information.  Excellent for news and company information.

Mintel Reports. 2001- Mintel International Group Ltd In-library and remote access.
    Updated irregularly. Offers a series of research reports covering the US and European marketplace. Each market research report combines data & analysis of the competitive landscape, market-share analysis and consumer profiles.
