This guide identifies secondary resources on Russian and East European Studies available at Pius XII Memorial Library or on the Web.  The print materials are located in the Reference Department on Level 1 of Pius Library.  The guide is not comprehensive; rather, it should be used as a starting point for research.

Formerly Poole's Plus. Covers nearly all periodicals of the late eighteenth through early twentieth century.

America:  History & Life - 1964-present
Covers the world's scholarly literature on the history of the United States and Canada. Includes abstracts of articles and citations to book reviews and dissertations. 

Historical Abstracts - 1964-present 
Covers the world's scholarly literature on the history of the world, except the United States and Canada, from 1450 to the present.  Includes abstracts of articles and citations to book reviews and dissertations. 

Humanities Full Text - 1984-present
Indexes and/or abstracts over 600 humanities periodicals. Full text is available from approximately 230 journals.

JSTOR 
This archival journal resource provides access to full-text of over 500 journal titles, including many history journals. Note that the last 1 to 7years of each journal are not available in this resource.

Periodicals Index Online - 1665-1995
Indexes the articles in over 4,000 periodicals in the humanities and social sciences from their first issues to 1995. Hundreds of journals are available in full text in the complementary database, Periodicals Archive Online. The focus is on 20th century periodicals. However, periodicals in the 20th century that extend back into the 17th, 18th, & 19th centuries are indexed from their earliest volumes. The scope is worldwide and includes journals in English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, and other Western languages.

This electronic journal collection provides full-text access to over 250 scholarly journals, including many history journals.

Includes a database of information on Russian political figures and groups, institutions, administrative units, current events, elections, ethnic groups, economy, military issues, and links to related websites.

Country Studies On-Line
Presents historical, social, economic, and political information on 101 countries and regions. Also available in print at Pius XII Memorial Library. To locate, perform a title search in the SLU Libraries Catalog on the name of the country you're looking for, followed by the phrase "a country study". For example, to find a Country Study on Russia, search for "Russia: a country study". To browse available Country Studies in the SLU Libraries Catalog, perform a title search on the title of the series, "Area Handbook Series".
