Begin Your Research

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE RESEARCH
Allow yourself plenty of time. You'll need several visits to the library to find and collect resources.   Be prepared for obstacles. Books that are checked out, searches that don't work out, and sources that aren't what you thought they'd be.  These all are part of the research process.   Not everything is on the Web.  Books and articles found in the library can be invaluable resources to help you write your paper.   Keep track of citations as you go along.  Make sure they are complete.  It will save you time when compiling the bibliography for your paper.   Research does not always proceed in a straight line.  You may run into dead ends or your topic may take you in unexpected directions.   Don't be afraid to ask for help from your class's librarian or the librarians at the reference desk.
