| SEARCHING THE SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES CATALOG |
|
You may search the Saint Louis University Libraries Catalog for books on your
topic by author, title, subject heading or keyword. Keyword searches are popular
because you can type in the phrase or word(s) you want to find and the Saint
Louis University Libraries Catalog will look for the phrase or word(s) anywhere
in the title, subject headings, description, and table of contents in the record
for the book.
Remember that keyword
phrase searching (e.g., personality disorders) and connecting keywords
with AND (e.g., personality AND disorders) will retrieve very different
results. Keyword phrase searches will find fewer entries.
|
All the books in the Saint Louis University Libraries Catalog are
assigned at least one subject heading. Subject headings
consist of a main heading and one or more sub-headings that help you recognize
which books are about a more focused area of your topic. Subject (LC)
searches typically result in fewer, more focused records than keyword searches.
