Jesuit Historical Documents on Microfilm

For many years the Vatican Film Library microfilmed extensively in Jesuit archives, creating one of the largest repositories in the United States of microfilmed Jesuit historical documents relating to the activities of the Order in North and South America and the Philippines. This collection incorporates materials from the central Jesuit archives in Rome (Archivum Romanum Societatis Jesu and Fondo Gesuitico), Jesuit provincial archives in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the Pastells Collection (assembled by Pablo Pastells, S.J. largely from documents in the Archivio de Indias in Seville), and the Archive of the Sacred Congregation “De Propaganda Fide.” It also includes data from the archives of the Collegium Romanum, or the Gregorian Pontifical University in Rome, (Fondo Curia, Archivum Pontificiae Universitatis Gregorianae) dealing largely with the teaching and lecturing by Jesuit professors at the university from the sixteenth to the middle of the nineteenth centuries.
