Medical Benefits

The University Health Plan partners with Aetna Student Health to administer medical benefits, which are offered at three levels, or tiers. You will receive a higher level of coverage when medical services are provided by Tier 1 providers and facilities.

Tier 1 Benefits

Tier 1 members have access to SLUCare providers who practice at SLUCare offices and affiliated facilities, including:

  • SSM Health - Saint Louis University Hospital
  • Saint Elizabeth's Hospital - Belleville
  • SSM Health - Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital (Pediatrics)
  • SSM Health - St. Mary's Hospital - Clayton (OB/GYN)

The UHP partners with Aetna Student Health to administer the prescription drug benefits. The RxBIN# for the UHP retail prescription plan administered by Aetna is: 610502.

UHP Summary Plan Description

The summary plan description document below is a summary of the University Health Plan (the "Plan") sponsored by Saint Louis University (the "University"). The description is intended to be a summary of the benefits under the plan in effect as of January 1, 2014.If any provision in the summary plan description conflicts with the plan, the terms of the plan shall govern.

The University, as plan administrator, has complete authority and discretion to interpret and administer the provisions of the plan (and this summary plan description and its attachments) and determine who is eligible for coverage under the plan and determine the coverage for which an eligible and enrolled individual is entitled to under the plan.
