Desi Nikolova graduated summa cum laude from SLU-Madrid with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish — participating in the first SLU-Madrid commencement ceremony. She earned a Master of Arts in Spanish Literature and Culture from Ohio State University and spent three years teaching Spanish at Johns Hopkins University. She joined SLU Madrid's advising staff in 2012; her primary responsibilities include advising new students, including transfer students.
Jaime Ortiz earned his licenciatura in English Philology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He also received a double-degree — a Master of Arts in English from Saint Louis University and an Master of Arts in Estudios literarios anglo-norteamericanos from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He is also a professional translator and has over 15 years of experience in customer service. He joined the advising staff in 2011 and currently serves as assistant dean for Advising. Some of his responsibilities include coordinating the honors program, general advising of juniors and seniors, and ensuring students meet all requirements for graduation.
