Newly Admitted Students
Welcome to Saint Louis University!
Major Exploration Academic Advisors provide a supportive environment that is mindful of students' educational and career goals. With over 90 academic programs, choosing a major can be both an exciting and daunting task. Our Academic Advisors provide a reflective, supportive, and neutral environment founded in SLU's Jesuit/Ignatian heritage that empowers students to confidently decide upon a major.
We want to encourage you to explore our website in its entirety, but want to direct you to some specifics below:
- What does it mean to explore the in the Jesuit/Ignatian tradition?
- Is Major Exploration a fit for me?
- What can I do to explore before entering SLU?
- Will I receive credit for classes taken in high school?
Major Exploration is one of the most popular advising offices for first year students. We also support transfer students who are in the process of deciding on a major. The majority of transfer students entering into Major Exploration have attended another institution for 1-2 semesters.
All newly admitted students are required to attend SLU 101, our orientation experience, where students, their families, and guests are introduced to the University, register for classes, meet other students and your Academic Advisor, and learn about the advising experience in Major Exploration.
