How to Add Padding Around an Image

If you're wrapping text around an image, you may want to designate some white space between the text and the image so the page doesn't look crowded. To add padding around an image, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the image and select "Insert/Edit Image."

    Insert/Edit Image
  2. Click the middle tab in the dialog box labeled "Appearance."
  3. In the "Vertical Space" and "Horizontal Space" boxes, enter the number of pixels you would like to have as padding around your image. Usually between 5 and 10 is sufficient.
  4. Click "Update" at the bottom of the dialog box, and your padding should be added.
