The Center for Anatomical Science and Education at Saint Louis University traces its roots through the former department of anatomy and neurobiology to the founding of the American Association of Anatomists.

The department of anatomy was the first of the five original departments organized at the time Saint Louis University took over.

The objectives of the Center for Anatomical Science and Education are to:

  • Provide innovative scholarship and effective teaching in all aspects of the structure of the human body.
  • Offer training programs in anatomy for graduate students.
  • Assist in the training of M.D. or Ph.D. postdoctoral students.
  • Stimulate interest in research and advance the frontiers of knowledge and technical expertise by active participation in a variety of research projects.
