SUBJECT Curriculum Management Committee
  1. Policy
    The School of Medicine shall have a standing Curriculum Management Committee charged with curriculum matters and other aspects of educational policy.
  2. Purpose
    The design, implementation, assessment and modification of an integrated and coordinated curriculum for the M.D. degree program.
  3. Procedure
    1. Membership shall include one or more representatives appointed by the Dean, with the recommendations of the Committee on Faculty Affairs, for each educational phase of the curriculum, at least two student representatives, and additional faculty or staff members as needed to provide the necessary balance to exercise committee objectives. The Curriculum Oversight Committee shall determine the number of members.
    2. The Dean shall appoint members for a 3-year term. Members may be reappointed one or more times at the discretion of the Dean. All members, including ex-officio, shall be voting members. Initially, the Dean shall assign reduced terms to some members to avoid simultaneous expiration of membership terms.
    3. An educational specialist shall provide administrative support and serve as executive secretary to the committee.
    4. The chairperson shall be the Associate Dean for Curriculum who shall report to the Curriculum Oversight Committee on behalf of the Curriculum Management Committee. The chairperson shall also report to the Executive Committee of the Faculty, the general faculty, and the Dean on a regular basis.
    5. The committee shall meet at least five times during each academic year.
