Saint Louis University’s family medicine residency program offers training that combines
the strengths of ambulatory medicine in a community health center, inpatient rotations
in a community hospital and specialty rotations with excellent academic physicians.
We offer strong academic training with a 100 percent American Board of Family Medicine
pass rate. We help our residents to become lifelong learners and educators through
a culture of inquiry. Join us for exceptional training in an atmosphere of engagement

Residents can participate in community-based research, with top-notch resources and
support from the Department of Family and Community Medicine research staff.

Behavioral Health Integration
In 2016, we received $1.8 million five-year HRSA grant for Integrated Behavioral Health
Training in collaboration with the SLU Medical Family Therapy training program.
Our Family Medicine Behavioral Health Collaborative Curriculum includes clinical training,
experiential workshops, and lectures at Family Care Health Center, in the community,
and at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital.
For residents who wish to practice obstetrics this experience includes elective and
continuity experience in prenatal care, labor and delivery and postpartum care, as
well as an academic project.

Interviews are scheduled mid-October through mid-January. Complimentary lodging may
be arranged for out-of-town applicants.
Minimum Applicant Qualifications
Medical school graduation not more than one year before application or at least one
year of U.S. clinical patient care experience after medical school.
Three recommendation letters, at least one letter from a family physician or two letters
from primary care physicians.
Report of all USMLE or COMLEX scores with no more than two unsuccessful attempts.
