Dr. Farmer's research interests center on chronic disease and chronic disease prevention in sexual
minority populations, particularly issues relating to cardiovascular disease. His dissertation
research will utilize both nationally representative and clinic-based data to examine the
relationship between the prevalence and patterns of tobacco use among sexual minority men
and women and potential disparities in cardiovascular disease and disease risk. In addition to
his work with SLUCOR faculty, he also worked as a data analyst for the National Children's
Study Gateway Study Center and was a Pre-doctoral mentee in the National Mentoring and
Training Program in LGBT Population Health sponsored by The Fenway Institute & Boston
University School of Public Health.
