Dr. Hinyard serves as the Assistant Director for the Center for Interprofessional Education and Research and the Associate Director for Academic Affairs at SLUCOR, overseeing all curriculum and graduate programs. She teaches courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, research methods, health outcomes measurement, and health system and health promotion.

Dr. Hinyard's research interests include outcomes of interprofessional education and collaborative practice and health disparities in cancer treatment and outcomes. She has also conducted research on the relationship between gender and asthma exacerbations, quality of life assessment, diabetes, and narrative cancer communication.

Dr. Hinyard came to SLU in 2004 as a doctoral student in Public Health Studies with a concentration in Epidemiology. During her tenure as a student, Dr. Hinyard worked in the Health Communication Research Laboratory conducting research in using narratives to enhance cancer communication before joining the Center for Outcomes Research in 2005 as a graduate research assistant. She joined the faculty of SLUCOR in 2009 and became Assistant Director of the Center for Interprofessional Education and Research in 2014.
