ORES 531: Foundations of Outcome Research II (Online course)

This course introduces more methodologically complex principles and methods of health outcomes research, building on the skills acquired in Foundations of Outcomes Research I. The course examines defining health outcomes, purposes and methods of risk adjustment, and assessment of quality and cost of care.

Upon completion of the course students will:
1. Identify relevant sources of data for health outcomes research
2. Describe the reasons for and importance of risk adjustment
3. Develop risk adjustment models
4. Evaluate risk adjustment models
5. Understand the relationship between patient satisfaction and quality of care
6. Define patient satisfaction outcomes
7. Define quality of care outcomes
8. Describe the process of utilizing health outcomes research to make policy decisions
9. Consolidate information and present results in both written and oral formats
