This course will cover the fundamental concepts of Comparative Effectiveness Research-research evaluating the benefits and harms of alternate treatment methodologies. Content includes the historical context of CER and its research priorities, methodologies specific to CER and patient-centered outcomes research. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate existing CER research and to propose a CER project in their own area of interest.
Upon completion of this course students will:
1. Understand the historical development and current context of CER.
2. Identify methodologies specific to the conduct of CER.
3. Evaluate and interpret existing literature from CER studies.
4. Develop a project proposal for a CER study.
