Ambassador Program
An emergency room ambassador volunteer at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital works primarily with the families and visitors of patients who are currently being seen or triaged. As families come into the Emergency Department, the ambassador greets them and introduces themselves. The ambassador’s primary role is to act as an intermediary between the emergency department staff and the family so that the family can stay informed. Additionally, the ambassador can help fill out paperwork and answer most of our patients and families’ questions.
Volunteers gain:
- First-hand experience working in an emergency department.
- Experience communicating with families and patients as well as the emergency department staff.
- Service to the community.
- Valuable lessons about customer service.
Become an Emergency Department Ambassador
Many ambassadors are undergraduate or medical students at Saint Louis University. However, this program is not limited to students. If you are a Saint Louis University medical student or undergraduate student and have questions, please contact edambassador@slu.edu.
