First Friday Mass & Speaker Series
Join the Division of Mission and Identity and the Catholic Studies Program for Mass, light lunch and an in-depth discussion of Catholicism and faith. The event is held at noon on the first Friday of every month. Attendees are invited to bring a friend to this spiritually and intellectually stimulating morning. The scheduled slate of speakers is as follows:
- Oct. 2: Donald Stump at Jesuit Hall
- Nov. 6: Bill O'Brien, S.J. at Jesuit Hall
- Dec. 4: Annie Smart at Jesuit Hall
- Jan. 15: Ann Wainscott at Il Monastero
- Feb. 5: Petruta Lipan in Jesuit Hall
- March 4: Terry Dempsey, S.J. at Il Monastero
- April 1: Steve Schoenig, S.J. at Il Monastero
Each semester, the Division of Mission and Identity invites members of the University community to deepen their understanding of SLU's Ignatian vision and their commitment to its Jesuit mission by attending the Ignatian Lunch.
The fall Ignatian Lunch will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the St. Francis Xavier College Church Ballroom, located in the lower-level of the church. Fr. Collins and Jonathan C. Smith, assistant professor of African-American Studies and Special Assistant to the President for Diversity and Community Engagement will speak.
The spring Ignatian Lunch will be held from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the College Church Ballroom.

The magazine, Conversations on Jesuit Higher Education, examines issues related to life and teaching on the campuses of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States. Each semester, faculty and staff gather for roundtable discussion sessions, facilitated by SLU colleagues.
This fall, the roundtable will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Sinquefield Stateroom, and the spring roundtable will be held between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the Pere Marquette Gallery in DuBourg Hall.
The sessions are co-sponsored by the Division of Mission and Identity and the Center for Teaching Excellence.
