Saint Louis University's Master of Science Degree in Molecular Imaging and Therapeutics is for students with a background in imaging or radiologic science who want to pursue a new area of study for educational and research purposes.
This degree is a 12-month, three-semester, year-round program with a rigorous curriculum. This degree option combines a collaborative research component with individual areas of imaging and therapeutic sciences.

For current Saint Louis University Students:
- Student must have a bachelor of science degree in either magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine technology, radiation therapy, preferably with coursework equivalent to the pre-physician assistant or pre-medicine curricular tracks.
- Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Majors must earn a minimum grade of B in all discipline specific courses.
- Existing standard SLU admissions requirements for current MIT programs will apply.
- Students must pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board registry exams in magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine technology or radiation therapy for their initial bachelor of science degree within six months of undergraduate graduation or they cannot progress in the graduate program. Confirmation of certification and/or registration will be required.
For other post-baccalaureate students interested in the MIT Graduate Degree:
- Students must be board certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in another imaging/radiologic science discipline, or be registered within 6 months of their undergraduate program completion. Confirmation of certification and/or registration will be required.
- Students must possess a bachelor of science degree in an imaging/radiologic science discipline
- Students must have taken the necessary pre-requisites (or appropriate equivalent) of the masters of science degree in molecular imaging and therapeutics.
It is recommended that students have taken a statistics course in the last five years.
Students must take the Graduate Records Examination (GRE).

Admission Statistics: The Department provides an atmosphere in which faculty, technologists, therapists and physicians can create an educational plan that is prospective and addresses changing health care issues.

The program includes a required leadership and advanced scholarly component with student presentation of the material meant to enhance every course. In each course, the scholarly and leadership topic chosen must combine both areas of specialty studied by the student. The Masters seminars I, II, & III, offered every semester, completed under the direction of a scholarly mentor, will result in a scholarly project suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal, professional presentation or scholarly equivalent. The goal of this exercise is to allow the student an opportunity to participate, present and publish unique scholarship, under the direction of a scholarly mentor, that integrates two imaging and/or therapeutic areas of study together to create unique and innovative scholarly work.

Careers Possibilities: Graduates of this program will be skilled in two radiologic and imaging disciplines: their undergraduate discipline and the chosen study area for the MIT Degree. Upon completion of the MIT program, students will be able to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists national certification exam in their chosen MIT discipline, in addition to having significant technical and clinical expertise in two imaging specialties.
The graduate of this program is extremely valuable to imaging/radiation oncology departments and medical corporations because current and developing technology require increasing knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy and other radiologic and imaging disciplines in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Curriculum & Program Details: Students must pursue full time study to complete the program. All classes and clinical training will be offered in the daytime hours. The program requires research, submission of results to journals and satisfactory completion of a comprehensive oral examination.
