Programs and Services
The Adult Inpatient Treatment Program offers respite from overwhelming environmental stresses and an opportunity for the professional staff to further evaluate and intensively treat those disorders which, because of their severity or acuity, cannot be optimally treated on an outpatient basis. Every patient receives a carefully designed and individualized treatment plan that is administered by a trained and dedicated multidisciplinary professional staff. Both individual and group treatments are utilized, and a range of therapeutic and psycho-educational activities are scheduled throughout the day. Attention to collateral medical problems is provided by appropriate consultants. Whenever possible, families are encouraged to visit and meet with staff members.
Unless physically ill, patients on the inpatient unit are out of bed and mobile during daytime hours. Most patients have private rooms with regular meals or special dietary servings provided in a group dining room on the unit. Laundry facilities and recreational activities are available. By the end of the patient's hospitalization, the treatment team will be involved in implementing a discharge plan for continuing care.
The Outpatient Clinic provides treatment for individuals, families and partners. Treatment may take the form of individual sessions with physicians and therapists, group therapy sessions and/or family and couples therapy sessions based upon patient needs.
The Consultation-Liaison Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for hospitalized patients who suffer psychiatric symptoms which may be due to medical illness, to a person's emotional reaction to being ill or to factors independent of the medical illness.
