Inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry Care
A 16-bed geriatric psychiatry unit at Saint Louis University Hospital staffed by SLUCare physicians specializes in the management of delirium, behavioral disturbances in dementia, mood disorders, psychoses, and other serious late-life mental disorders requiring hospitalization. A highly trained team of nurses, aides, social workers, neuropsychologist and other therapists work closely with medical students, resident physicians, fellows from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and attending geriatric psychiatrists.
Our outpatient and inpatient ECT service for the elderly, especially those at high-risk,has become a regional resource.

In addition, SLUCare geriatric psychiatrists consult with departments at Saint Louis University Hospital and provide family therapy and education.
As part of an academic medical practice, we are a regional, national and international mental health and aging education/training to medical students, residents, physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists and therapists.
