J. Joe Adorjan, chairman of the Saint Louis University Board of Trustees, is an avid runner and each year participates in the annual Billiken 5K, which benefits the SLU Cancer Center.

This year, Adorjan has pledged to match every dollar — up to a total of $2,500 — that SLU faculty, staff and students donate to the event beyond the registration fee.

"I am proud of the work being done at our Cancer Center, and I want to join with the SLU community in showing our support for cancer treatments of the future," Adorjan said. "I'd like to see many of our faculty, staff and students join me for the run on Labor Day."

The 5th Annual Billiken 5K will be held Monday, Sept. 2, and starts and ends in front of Chaifetz Arena. Register for the event on the Big River Running website.

The registration form includes a box for "Chairman's Challenge" gifts from members of the SLU community.

"I want to thank Mr. Adorjan for this generous matching gift and I hope many of our faculty, staff and students will join him supporting our Cancer Center," said Mark Varvares, M.D., director of the Center. "Any size gift is appreciated and can be part of the challenge."
