Men's Basketball Team Ranked No. 12; Jett Named A-10 Player of the Week
ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University rose to No. 12 in the latest AP Top 25, which was released Monday morning.
The Billikens are currently 22-2 overall and 9-0 in the Atlantic 10, and have posted their 16th straight win.
Also, Saint Louis senior guard Jordair Jett has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, the league announced this morning. It is the second week in a row and the third time this season he has claimed the honor.
Jett averaged 17.5 ppg last week in helping the Billikens (22-2, 9-0 A-10) to victories against Saint Joseph's and La Salle.
Jett poured in 25 points against La Salle, including 19 in the second half and 15 of SLU's final 17 points. It was his driving layup with less than four seconds remaining that sealed the win for the Billikens. Against St. Joe's, Jett scored 10 points and dished out seven assists.
For the week, Jett was 12-of-23 (52.2 percent) from the field and 11-of-14 (78.6 percent) from the charity stripe.
Jett is averaging 17.8 ppg in conference play, which is tied for third in the league. He is third in assists per game (4.7) and tied for sixth in steals per game (1.6).
Saint Louis, which has registered a school-record 16 straight victories, hosts VCU Saturday, Feb. 15, for the Billiken Blizzard. Tip time at Chaifetz Arena is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
