The generosity of the Saint Louis University community was once again demonstrated this Christmas season. From Hodgen Elementary and Almost Home in St. Louis to homeless shelters in Allenville, Mo., toy drive collections have helped spread the holiday spirit throughout our University and local communities. The bulk of the collections were distributed to local schools, after-school program sites and community centers. Making it all possible, Blue Santa and his helpers visited almost 40 departments around the St. Louis campus, collecting 3,000 toys.
A portion of the Blue Santa Toy Drive collections were also distributed to more than 100 children who attended the annual Christmas at SLU celebration Dec. 6. Faculty, staff and students joined community members for a fun afternoon of games and visits with Santa Claus.
On behalf of the many local families and children who received gifts, a special "thank you" goes out to all University members who participated in the drive. In particular, through their exceptional generosity, many departments participated as a stop in the Blue Santa Toy Drive. To all of these departments and offices, the Center for Service and Community Engagement offers a well-deserved thank you:
