Saint Louis University alumnus Thomas Q. Keefe has been named 2012-2013 dean of the SLU School of Law. His appointment is effective immediately. Former dean Annette Clark, J.D., resigned on Aug. 8.
Keefe, who graduated from the School of Law in 1978, is considered one of the region's top trial lawyers and owns a leading law practice in Belleville, Ill.
His ties to the law school extend beyond his own educational experience at SLU. Keefe's father, four brothers and two of his children are also law graduates.
Keefe also is known for his philanthropic work, including support for the Land of Lincoln Legal Aid Society, the Women's Crisis Center and Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.
Keefe's appointment is for the 2012-2013 academic year. Manoj Patankar, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs, will lead a national search for a new dean this fall.
