Students, faculty, staff, parents and alumni are encouraged to participate in the 16th annual SLU Make A Difference Day, set for Saturday, Oct. 26. Volunteers may sign-up individually or as a group by visiting the Make a Difference Day website.
The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Kick-Off Program, then groups will be dispersed to more than 130 sites across St. Louis for a day of service, which will conclude at 3 p.m. Volunteers are provided with lunch, water and a t-shirt. Transportation can also be provided.
Last year, 3,376 volunteers served at 136 sites. SLU's Make A Difference Day is consistently recognized as the largest collegiate day of service in Missouri and one of the largest in the entire nation.
"Make A Difference Day is a chance for our whole campus to come together and celebrate what makes us all Billikens: The desire to serve others," said Bobby Wassel, assistant director of the Center for Service and Community Engagement.
"Not only is it a celebration, it is also meant to be a springboard for members of the SLU community to become engaged in ongoing service, and to make every day 'Make A Difference Day,'" Wassel added.
