Facilities Services will host the first-ever Saint Louis University Campus Sustainability Day Thursday, Oct. 24., in Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's Campus Sustainability. All are encouraged to be a "Green Billiken" and participate in one of the sustainable events happening this week. Visit the SLUstainability web page for more information, including event date and times.
In honor of Sustainability Day and SLU's sustainability week, Facilities Services, in partnership with the Center for Sustainability, is releasing its first Annual Campus Sustainability Report.
To kick start this week's events, an Environmental Awareness Seminar will be held in from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in room 256 in Busch Student Center. Part of the presentation will review SLU's participation in STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System), what Facilities Services has been doing in regards to sustainability at SLU, as well as a presentation on "The Basics of Single-Stream Recycling."
Recycling experts will also be on hand to speak with the University community from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Busch Student Center.
Over the next few weeks, Facilities Services will add exterior blue recycling receptacles to the campus walkways. The blue cans will be able to accept paper products as well as metal, plastic and glass containers. Trash, such as food, liquids and Styrofoam, should be placed into the traditional black "landfill" cans.
